As Solano County dates back thousands of years, the boundaries for Solano County were founded in 1850. Within the county 7 cities were identified: Benicia (1850 & 1851), Vallejo (1868), Suisun City (1868), Dixon (1878), Vacaville (1892), Rio Vista (1893), and Fairfield (1903). Solano County received it’s name from Chief Solano at the request from General Vallejo. Chief Solano once ruled over the land and tribes between the Petaluma Creek and Sacramento River. Today, in Solano County you will find a wide variety of recreational activities, places to stay, restaurants to enjoy. If you take the backroads, you’ll see beautiful vistas, parks, local wineries, and farm fresh produce.
